For over 25 years, Arto has been a driving force in the scene, filming some of the most iconic video parts of all time. He also earned the highest honor in skateboarding—Thrasher’s Skater of the Year award in 2001.
Originally from Finland, Arto moved to the U.S. as a young teen, speaking no English, all in pursuit of his dream to skate. Despite the odds, he quickly rose to prominence, becoming one of the biggest names in the culture. But his journey wasn’t without its struggles.
This project explores Arto's life, legacy, and the bold decision to relocate his young family from Hollywood to the North Shore of Oahu, where he embraced a new chapter as a surfer and photographer.
